On Thursday, July 25, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, visited Imetame Logística Porto, monitoring the progress of the works and the investments planned for the project. During a ceremony, he participated in a symbolic act of laying the foundation stone for the East breakwater.
With a depth of 17 meters and large maneuvering space, the terminal will be prepared to receive the largest ships in the world. The demand for port capacity and modern logistics solutions in the region has grown, driven by industrial activity and trade in Espírito Santo, as well as by the growth of agriculture, livestock and agribusiness in the Centro-Oeste (Midwest) and Minas Gerais, which are part of the area directly influenced by Imetame Port.
Silvio Costa Filho highlighted that the terminal will have the capacity to receive large ships, which is crucial for the creation of jobs and income for the population.
“It is a pleasure to be here in Espírito Santo, very happy to be able to see a great Brazilian, an entrepreneur who is today an asset to the Brazilian people, and to say that Imetame port will be fundamental for the development of Brazil, a multimodal port that will handle solid bulk, liquid bulk, containers, without a doubt, a new asset for the country. With a draft of over 17 meters, which can reach 22 meters, this will help Brazil’s logistics plan and we want to increasingly integrate this great enterprise into our PAC, which is fundamental for the development of Brazil,” highlighted the minister during the visit, emphasizing the importance of the complex for the state’s economy.
The partial infrastructure of Imetame Port is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2025, with the official inauguration scheduled for the second half of 2026. In the first year of operation, the forecast is to handle 80 thousand containers and 500 thousand tons of general cargo.
